Amendments to your Breakdown Cover

We want to let you know about important changes to your Breakdown Cover. For full terms and conditions, please refer to your Breakdown Cover policy book.

Changes to Local Cover

This will now be called Roadside Assistance. The following changes have been made to the benefits:

Misfuel Assist

In the event you misfuel your vehicle, you must contact us before you start your vehicle. We will conduct a fuel drain or recover your vehicle to the nearest suitable repairer. We will also provide 10 litres of correct fuel to allow you to continue your journey.

All other costs will be incurred at your own expense.

Previously we would conduct the drain and flush at the roadside, now we will perform the drain and add an additive to the fuel which cleans the system. However, we do not conduct a fuel flush in the usual sense. We will no longer reimburse you if the drain and flush is conducted by a suitable repairer.

Alternative Transport

A hire car (up to 1600cc) will now be provided for up to 3 days to allow you to complete your journey. We will also pay up to £150 towards the cost of alternative transport for an insured person to return and collect the repaired vehicle.

Previously upon receipt of an invoice we would pay you up to £500 to cover the cost of the hire car. Now we will provide this car for you.

Overnight Accommodation

Whilst your car is being repaired, we will arrange overnight accommodation for you and your passenger up to the value of £150 per person and £600 in total.

Previously upon receipt of an invoice we would pay you up to £600 or £150 per person towards the cost of an overnight accommodation stay. Now we will arrange and book the accommodation.

Roadside Recovery

If your vehicle can't be repaired at the roadside we will either:

  1. recover you, your passengers and the vehicle to our choice of local garage (no mileage restriction);
  2. or, if the above is not possible at the time or the repair cannot be made that day, we will take you to a destination of your choosing (within 10 miles from the scene of the breakdown)

Previously both options were limited to 10 miles from the scene of the breakdown, now we will take you to the closest garage, even if it is further than 10 miles from the scene of the breakdown.

Changes to National Plus Cover

This will now be called National Cover. Everything covered in roadside assistance will also be covered in National cover with:

Home Assist

There are no limits to the amount of Home Assists that can be used within the policy duration.

Previously we provided 6 home assists within a quarter mile radius of your home address. This is now unlimited.

Changes to European Plus Cover

This will now be called European Cover. Everything covered in National Cover will also be covered in European Cover.

Alternative Transport Abroad

A hire car (up to 1600cc) will now be provided for up to 3 days to allow you to complete your journey. We will also pay up to £150 towards the cost of alternative transport for an insured person to return and collect the repaired vehicle.

Previously upon receipt of an invoice we would pay you up to £500 to cover the cost of the hire car. Now we will provide this car for you.

Emergency Overnight Accommodation Abroad

Whilst your car is being repaired, we will arrange overnight accommodation for you and your passenger up to the value of £150 per person and £600 in total.

Previously upon receipt of an invoice we would pay you up to £600 or £150 per person towards the cost of an overnight accommodation stay. Now we will arrange and book the accommodation.
